Lord Vishnu, realising this deception, promptly severed Rahu's head with his Sudarshan Chakra. However, since Rahu had consumed the nectar, he became immortal. While his body merged into the ocean, his head fell on Earth. It is believed that his head fell in the village of Paithani in the Pauri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Today, the Rahu Temple stands at that very spot. This unique temple worships Rahu not as a deity, but along with Lord Shiva.
